Bayerischer Jugendring

TheBayerischer Jugendring  is a reciprocal family exchange betweenBavarian and Tasmanian students who are studying German. In Australiait operates in Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia.  YourGerman partner comes to stay with you for about 10 weeks from Februaryto May. You go and stay with your German partner from the end ofNovember for about 10 weeks.  Students who are in grades 9 or 10may apply in March for the following year.  The student attendsschool with the partner and participates in normal family life. Duringthe Tasmanian stay, the German partner goes on a Wilderness Tour forone week which costs about $750. In Germany the Tasmanian partner canjoin the group going to Berlin for a week for about the same cost. Your German teacher and the Tasmanian co-ordinator, AlannahRoach, are always available if you have any sort of problem. In Germanythe Munich office and local schools are the support points.  Thereis a pre-arrival meeting for families before February and apre-departure meeting in November. Students travel together with anescort to Germany. 

Costs:

  • $100 initial non-refundable administration fee (but if you are unsuccessful, you get $75 back).
  • Around $3000 for air travel and insurance
  • Around $750 for a 5-day Berlin trip (optional)

PAD Stipendium 

Southern Tasmania usually is allocated one scholarship anually. Candidateswill be interviewed. Selection takesplace on the basis of performance in the interview and a written essay.
